Law Enforcement
Information for law enforcement officials
AnonPaste operates a global platform that provides secure paste and file sharing services. We are committed to complying with valid legal process and assisting law enforcement in their investigations while protecting user privacy and rights. It is not our intent to make law enforcement's job any harder.
Contact: Law enforcement officials can contact us directly at [email protected]. To receive a response, you must clearly identify yourself as a law enforcement officer through your badge & case number, or other information such as your rank, agency, and unit. Warrant Canary
A warrant canary is a method by which a service provider can inform its users that it has not received certain types of legal requests, while being legally prohibited from disclosing the receipt of such requests. If we receive certain types of legal process that we are prohibited from disclosing, this canary will be removed or updated to reflect that.
As of January 16, 2026, AnonPaste has NOT received:
- Any National Security Letters (NSLs)
- Any court orders issued under 18 U.S.C. § 2705(b) (delayed notice orders)
- Any gag orders preventing us from disclosing the receipt of legal process
- Any warrants or court orders that we are legally prohibited from disclosing
- Any requests from government agencies that would require us to compromise our security infrastructure or user privacy
Important: This warrant canary is updated regularly. If this canary is removed or not updated, it may indicate that we have received one or more of the above types of legal process that we are prohibited from disclosing. Required Information: Paste Link
A paste link is required for all requests. Please provide the full URL of the paste in question (e.g., https://anonpaste.com/share/xxxxx).
Without a paste link, we cannot locate or provide information about specific content. If you do not have a paste link, please check your investigation materials or contact the reporting party.
Data Retention and Availability
We keep limited user information for a limited time frame, as minimally required to provide our service and comply with local laws. User information is not held indefinitely.
- User Identification: We use cryptographic IDs to identify unique users, not IP addresses. There is no guarantee that IP addresses will be available.
- IP Addresses: IP addresses are only stored for the purpose of rate limiting, spam prevention, and initially to determine origin country to enable geo restrictions and geo features. IP addresses may not be available, especially if the paste or content has been deleted by the user. If a paste has been deleted, almost no data can be provided as we won't have any records.
- Account Information: Basic subscriber information (name, email, registration date) may be available if the user created an account.
- Transaction Logs: We retain transactional data for only a limited amount of time. If significant time has passed, this data may no longer be available.
Important: If a paste has been deleted by the user, we typically cannot provide any information about its content or the user who created it, as we do not retain deleted content.
CyberTipline / NCMEC Reporting
Child Safety: AnonPaste proactively reports all CSAM (Child Sexual Abuse Material) and related abuse to the CyberTipline operated by the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC). We report all CSAM content that we find through our automated systems or that is reported to us by our users.
If you encounter CSAM content on our platform:
- We have already reported it to NCMEC if our systems detected it
- We report all CSAM content reported to us by users to NCMEC
- You can also report directly to NCMEC at missingkids.org/cybertipline
- For urgent matters, contact us immediately at [email protected]
Special Paste Types and Limitations
AnonPaste offers different types of pastes with varying levels of data availability. Understanding these types is crucial for law enforcement requests:
Encrypted Pastes
Encrypted pastes require decryption keys, which are not held by us.There is nothing we can do to decrypt them or provide any data regarding their content. Encryption and decryption occur entirely client-side.
For encrypted pastes, the most we can do is:
- Confirm that a paste exists at the given URL
- Provide basic metadata (creation date, if available)
- Takedown/delete the paste if legally required
We cannot:
- Decrypt the content
- Provide the decryption key
- Access the plaintext content in any way
Serverless Pastes
Serverless pastes: No data is held on our servers. The data is embedded in the link itself. We cannot provide any information in requests relating to serverless pastes beyond confirming that the URL format is valid.
For serverless pastes, we have no records, no logs, and no ability to access the content. The content exists only in the URL parameters and is processed entirely client-side.
Geographic Restrictions
AnonPaste may apply geographic restrictions to content based on local laws and regulations. When requesting geo-restricted content:
- Please specify the country or region where you need the content to be restricted or made available.
- Provide the legal basis for the restriction (e.g., court order, local law citation).
- Note that restrictions are applied on a country-by-country basis and do not affect access in other jurisdictions.
Current Active Restrictions:
| Restriction Type | Countries/Regions | Details |
|---|---|---|
| Content Upload Blocks | IN (India), BD (Bangladesh) | Temporary restrictions due to high levels of abuse |
| Increased Moderation | IN (India) | Enhanced spam filtering and moderation |
| Viewing Content | US (Some US/EU states), EU (European Union), UK (United Kingdom) | Age-restricted or sensitive content may be restricted in certain jurisdictions |
Censorship and Free Speech Policy
AnonPaste's primary market is the United States, with secondary markets in Canada, United Kingdom, and the European Union/EEA. We follow all laws and regulations from these jurisdictions to the fullest extent. Our policy is as follows:
- Content that violates free speech laws in one country will be restricted in that country only, not taken down globally, unless the content is harmful, promotes terrorism, or involves illegal activities.
- Content that is harmful, promotes terrorism, or involves illegal activitieswill be removed globally, regardless of jurisdiction.
- We do not engage in political censorship or remove content based on viewpoints, opinions, or criticism.
- Public Disclosure: When censorship or content removal is requested, we will publicly disclose the request, including who requested it and under what law, unless restricted by law or court order. This transparency helps maintain accountability and protects free speech.
If you believe content violates laws in your jurisdiction, please provide:
- The specific law or regulation that is violated
- The legal basis for removal or restriction
- A valid court order or legal process (if required by law)
Note: All censorship requests will be publicly disclosed unless restricted by law or court order, including information about who made the request and under what legal basis.
General Abuse Takedown
For content that violates our Terms of Service: We recommend using our abuse reporting form. This is the easiest and fastest route for takedown requests.
Content violating our Terms of Service is typically taken down within 24 hours and requires no legal orders. This route is recommended for both law enforcement and regular users when dealing with:
- Spam or harassment
- Content that violates community guidelines
- Illegal content (non-emergency)
- Terms of Service violations
Copyright and DMCA
Copyright and DMCA requests have their own dedicated page and process. This law enforcement page is not for copyright purposes.
For copyright infringement claims, please visit our DMCA page and follow the DMCA takedown process.
Proactive Monitoring and Restrictions
All public pastes go through basic filtering to prevent abuse and harmful content:
- Automated Scanning: Our systems scan for known patterns of abuse, including CSAM, malware, and other harmful content.
- Automated Actions: Automated systems block, restrict, and blacklist users who violate our policies.
- Human Review: Content flagged by our systems or accessed by a large number of users undergoes human review for due diligence.
- Limitations: We cannot review all content, so we rely on user reports and automated systems to identify violations.
Restrictions apply country to country: Our automated systems and human reviewers apply restrictions based on local laws and our Terms of Service, with geographic restrictions applied as appropriate.
Emergency Requests
In accordance with applicable law, AnonPaste may disclose information without delay to law enforcement if the request involves imminent danger of death or serious injury to any person.
Emergency disclosure requests are evaluated on a case-by-case basis. Law enforcement officials with emergency requests should:
- Contact us immediately at [email protected]
- Clearly mark the request as "EMERGENCY" in the subject line
- Provide your badge number, agency, and case number
- Describe the nature of the emergency and imminent danger
Note: Even in emergency situations, we may require follow-up legal process depending on the type of information requested and applicable law.
Requests from Governments Outside Our Primary Jurisdictions
Direct Service Acceptance (Discretionary):
To facilitate rapid cooperation, AnonPaste accepts direct service of legal process via email from law enforcement agencies in the United States, United Kingdom, and European Union.
We generally waive the requirement for personal service or domestication of subpoenas for these jurisdictions if the request is sent from a verified official government email address.
Note: Acceptance of legal process via email is a voluntary courtesy. We explicitly reserve the right to require formal service, domestication, or diplomatic channels (MLAT) for any request—even from our primary jurisdictions—if we determine the request is overbroad, abusive, or legally deficient.
Other Jurisdictions:
For requests from countries outside these regions, we generally require that requests be issued through appropriate diplomatic channels, such as Mutual Legal Assistance Treaty (MLAT) requests.
Exceptions & Cooperation:
- Emergency Disclosure: In cases involving an immediate threat of death or serious physical injury, we may voluntarily disclose information on an emergency basis.
Types of Information We Can Provide
The information available depends on the specific type of legal process provided and our data retention policies at the time of the request.
Basic Subscriber Information
Legal Process Required: Valid subpoena or equivalent legal process.
Transactional Data / Logs
We may have limited transactional data or access logs, but we retain such data for only a limited amount of time. If significant time has passed, this data may no longer be available.
Legal Process Required: Court-issued warrant or other court order.
Content / Communications
For server-stored pastes, we may be able to provide content with appropriate legal process. However, some pastes are serverless (content embedded in the URL) or use client-side encryption with keys we do not possess, which limits our ability to provide content. See the Special Paste Types and Limitations section for more details.
Legal Process Required: Court-issued warrant or other court order.
Deleted Content: We do not retain archives of user-deleted or expired pastes. Once a paste is deleted, the data is permanently erased and unrecoverable.
