Use burn after view when a paste should be retrievable once rather than until a date. Add a password if the content should also be encrypted in the browser.

What counts as the view

For Quick pastes, the first successful content retrieval returns the paste and deletes its stored record. A later request cannot retrieve it again.

Known preview integrations

AnonPaste's dedicated Quick-paste preview path withholds burn content, including from the Discord integration. Do not rely on every possible third-party scanner being recognized.

Burn versus timed expiry

Burn after view reacts to a successful read. Timed expiry removes availability after a chosen date even if nobody opens the link. You can use both controls together.

Recipient copies remain possible

Deletion removes the stored AnonPaste record, not content already copied, saved, photographed, cached, or forwarded by a recipient or other system.

Burn-after-reading questions

When is the Quick paste deleted?

It is deleted as part of the first successful content retrieval. The same response still receives the content, but subsequent retrievals cannot load it.

Will a link-preview bot burn the paste?

AnonPaste withholds burn content from its dedicated Quick preview integrations, including Discord. Unknown third-party scanners may behave differently, so avoid pasting the link into systems you do not trust.

How is this different from timed expiry?

Burn after view is triggered by the first successful read. Timed expiry is triggered by a date and time whether or not the paste has been opened.

Can a burned paste be recovered?

No recovery is offered after deletion. The recipient may still have copied the content while it was visible.
